Dear Whitney Rehabilitation Care Center,
I would like to take a moment to shed a much needed light on the staff of the recreation department.
My personal struggles and stress being the caregiver for my mom is overwhelming with many dark and stressful times. There are times I am walking through a dark tunnel with no light!
The recreation department is that light in a sad, stressful and often chaotic environment. I wanted to take a moment to recognize this incredible group of staff and volunteers that are constantly working to improve the lives of Whitney Rehab residents!
Although Beatrice and Ellyn are fairly new to Whitney they have jumped right in with the most positive and upbeat energy and their commitment to the mission is very evident.
I would also like to recognize Sandy. Her compassion, caring and loving nature is always on full display whether she is interacting with a group of residents, providing comfort to residents in distress like my mom or interacting with family like myself. Sometimes we also need a little love.
Finally I would like to recognize Donna. I almost have no words to accurately sum up the star she is and that stands out in a sea of staff. I am at the facility all the time and I have developed relationships with staff and caregivers but I cherish the time and talks I have shared with Donna. I think sometimes recreation gets overlooked when caring for individuals with so many demanding and serious conditions it may seem like recreation is just a little something extra. To me this group of individuals is a light that shines so bright it leads my way into uncharted territory. Always coming up with activities and ideas to enrich and improve the lives of those at moments when my mom is having a difficult time she will give me support and comfort as well as suggestions for things that might help my mom. Her upbeat and positive energy is always a light and so very much appreciated.
I hope these actions and qualities are recognized and appreciated.
Thank you for your time,
A Family of a Resident
